2024 Enshrinement Inductees

SELLOUT CROWD CELEBRATES CLASS OF 2024

An overflow crowd packed Pardini’s Banquets and Catering in Northwest Fresno to celebrate the induction of five remarkable individual achievers and an unrivaled team into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame.

The organization’s 64th annual enshrinement dinner was emceed by Apple+ baseball broadcaster and CW college football reporter Heidi Watney with inductee interviews conducted by Fresno State play-by-play broadcaster Paul Loeffler.

The class of 2024 feature:

Nicole Carroll-Lewis, a two-time track and field All-American at Fresno State who threw the javelin in the 1996 Olympic games.

Marilyn Hamilton, who after being made paraplegic by a hang-gliding accident helped to create a light-weight wheelchair that sparked the growth of wheelchair sports. Hamilton won two U.S. Open tennis titles and was a medalist in disabled skiing world championship events.

Ryan Mathews, maybe the greatest running back in Fresno State history, was chosen in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Chargers. Mathews twice rushed for over 1,000 yards in his NFL career and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2011.

Sid Nickolas, winner of three events to help Fresno State win the NCAA college division track and field championship in 1964.

Vicki Samarin, one of the region’s premier high school volleyball coaches who won two valley titles at Kerman High and a third at Clovis East High.

The 2024 team inductee was the 1984 Fresno State volleyball team which was forecast for a fifth place finish in their league and wound up the season ranked 5th nationally. The team came one win from advancing to the Final Four.
